Dr. Carl Myers
Dr. Carl Myers was born in Mobile, Alabama and is a graduate of Fairhope High School (1987). He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1992 and was awarded a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1995. His senior year, he was honored with Auburn’s coveted award for Outstanding Surgery Student. Dr. Myers has extensive experience in internal medicine, surgery, and dermatology and especially enjoys taking on the impossible-to-solve cases.
Dr. Myers has two daughters, Whitney and Lexi. His oldest daughter, Whitney, attends The University of Mobile, and is a very talented musician. His youngest daughter, Lexi, attends St. Paul’s Episcopal School.
From its grand-opening in 2001 until late 2008, his cherished dog, Duke was a fixture of the practice and official greeter. After a long healthy life blessed with love, Duke passed away in 2008. His memory, along with that of Dr. Myers’ beloved kitty, Heidi, is felt throughout the clinic every day!
Dr. Myers took ownership of Theodore Veterinary Hospital in December of 2001 and is a member of numerous veterinary organizations.
In his spare time, Dr. Myers enjoys shooting sporting clays in tournaments nationwide, fishing, scuba diving and watching Auburn football.
Dr. Jeremy Hodges
Dr. Hodges attended Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated with honors. He
and his family moved to south Alabama in 2011. They have since grown to love Mobile and all it has to offer.
Dr. Hodges grew up in a small town in northeast Arkansas and knew
from a young age he wanted to work with animals. Family, faith and helping
animals is what Dr. Hodges lives for.
He has been married for 20 years to his beautiful bride Kara and they have been blessed with two amazing children:
Brennan who is 18 and loves to golf and Ally who is 15 and loves volleyball. Furry children include a Goldendoodle
named Nugget, a rescued Labrador Retriever, Sam, a rescued Cava-Chin, Benjamin Buttons, a rescued Chorkie,
Bailey as well as two rescued cats: Tigger and Richard Parker. In his spare time, Dr. Hodges enjoys fishing, camping
and hunting with his family.
Dr. Lorelei Miller
Dr. Miller was born in Akron, Ohio, but moved to Mobile when she was a teen. Here, she finished school and went on to receive a B.S. Degree in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and German from the University of South Alabama. She then went on to receive her D.V.M from Auburn University in 1992.
Dr. Nicole Elstner
Dr. Nicole Elstner is a native of Mobile, AL and graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in 1999. She began college at Loyola University New Orleans and finished at Spring Hill College in Mobile, in 2004 with her Bachelor of Science degree. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in 2010 and has been a veterinarian at Theodore Veterinary Hospital ever since.
Dr. Elstner was a vet tech at Theodore Veterinary Hospital for approximately three years before she went to vet school at Auburn. Over the years she has seen the practice grow from a small building with basic medical equipment into a beautiful state-of-the-art facility. She really enjoys working with all of the advanced equipment at the clinic including the ear scopes in exam rooms and the electronic scalpel blade in surgery. She has a special interest in chemotherapy for dogs and cats with cancer as well as ultrasound and internal medicine. She is also certified in basic small animal endoscopy, as well as ultrasound.
Dr. Elstner has a young son, Nicolas, who keeps her on her toes and is the love of her life! In addition, she has a Beagle named Alvin, and five cats: Arlene, Dennis, Marvin, Bobby and Mr. Tiggs.
Since having her son, Dr. Elstner doesn’t have as much free time, but when she does she enjoys traveling, fitness, music and visiting with friends and family.
She is very proud to be a part of the Theodore Veterinary Hospital crew and looks forward to the opportunity to care for you and your pets.
Darwin Myers
Darwin Myers took leave of his 15-year career as an environmental health and safety engineer to join his brother, Dr. Carl Myers, in 2004 as Hospital Administrator. The hospital has been fortunate for the opportunity to utilize Darwin’s technical expertise which ensures the smoothness of day-to-day operations and he has been an invaluable benefit to the clinic.
Darwin and his wife, Leah, have four children, Kaleigh, Karissa, Destin, and Jack. They have a Chihuahua named Sophie that is full of personality!!!
Their oldest daughter, Kaleigh, after years of volunteering and then working at Theodore Veterinary Hospital, is in her fourth year at Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She will be a part of the class of 2018. Their daughter, Karissa spent many hours volunteering at the clinic when she was younger, and now works at Theodore Veterinary Hospital. Their sons, Destin and Jack still accompany him from time to time when they are out of school and enjoy spending time playing with the furry boarding guests!
In his spare time, Darwin enjoys spending time with his family, watching Auburn football, fishing, and shooting sporting clays with his brother.
Shannon Poiroux
Shannon Poiroux is the Lab Manager at Theodore Veterinary Hospital. She joined the staff in 2007.
Shannon and her husband, Justin, have two children, Riley and Brystol. In addition, they have two Boxers, named Indy and River, and a Cocker Spaniel named Sage.
